The Interlink Method. Quite possibly the most spectacular manual treatment method discovered in the past 100 years. The remarkable results occur immediately after the intervention—taking only 5-7 seconds—and are also permanent. When applied correctly, only one treatment is needed for an injury.
DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF ORTHOPEDIC INJURIES IN THE EXTREMITIES
When an injury occurs at a joint, the brain uses a complex neural network to provide maximum protection to the joint and prevent further damage. It does so by signaling pain, restricting mobility, and disrupting function.
For example, in the case of a ligamentous injury at the hip, the iliopsoas compensates for the local instability by increasing its tone. Various manual disciplines often detect this hypertonicity of the psoas during movement assessments and attempt to treat it using stretching, mobilization, myofascial techniques, muscle chain therapies, or other direct interventions. However, the question remains whether we should correct this functional hypertonicity of the psoas, as it serves a protective function for an underlying joint injury.
TO ASK THE QUESTION IS TO ANSWER IT
Every joint has its own protective logic that points to an underlying problem, which is reflected in movement restrictions. Treatments often target these restrictions, while the true focus should instead be on the underlying ligamentous instability.
The Interlink Method not only permanently corrects the primary underlying injury but also restores the entire neural circuit. As a result, the brain and the affected joint begin to work together again. This allows the protective hypertonicity to resolve, and the associated joint movement restrictions disappear almost instantly.
AN ESSENTIAL TOOL FOR PHYSIOTHERAPISTS, OSTEOPATHS, AND MANUAL THERAPISTS
Since the development of the Interlink Method 25 years ago, numerous therapists have been amazed by its simplicity and effectiveness. To our knowledge, no other technique comes close to the corrective power of this method in addressing ligamentous injuries of the joints, muscles, and bones.
For physiotherapists, osteopaths, manual therapists, and chiropractors seeking to make their treatment of orthopedic injuries more effective and specific, this tool is indispensable.
IDEAL FOR A PATIENT-CENTERED APPROACH
The treatment always takes place at the neurologically linked opposite joint of the initial injury. For example, an injury to the left hip is treated at the right shoulder. This approach is ideal for treating acute injuries where local interventions may be too painful.
However, it is also highly effective for older, hidden, and unresolved peripheral injuries that require ongoing compensation, which can significantly impact the overall musculoskeletal system and function.
A unique feature of this straightforward technique is the sharp, momentary pain that the therapist can essentially “switch on and off” during the treatment. This allows the therapist to actively involve the patient in the process.
THE PROGRAM
The joints covered include the glenohumeral, sternoclavicular, acromioclavicular joints, the elbow, hip, knee, ankle, and foot, along with their relationships to the lumbopelvic region. Injuries to bones and peripheral nerve entrapments are also addressed.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
This course is designed for physiotherapists, osteopaths, manual therapists, and chiropractors who want to enhance the effectiveness and specificity of their treatment of orthopedic injuries.
The lessons will be taught in English, with Thomas D’havé providing interim summaries and integration in Dutch.
